Pillow talk

Our town hosted a hot air balloon festival. It was fun to watch the colorful balloons floating over the town!

Loved the strawberry!

Fun Jack-O-Lantern
My little art quilt group is having a pillow challenge. I made this out of an orphan block. I had a 14" pillow form on hand, so tried to use that. I quilted the block and then sewed on some bias binding in a swirl.

A friend in my local guild showed me how to do a zipper closure instead of the overlapping flaps. I like the way it turned out! I don't do a lot of throw pillows, but will use this method when I do make any more.

  1. Hi Sylvia! What a great pillow. That back looks so professional! I have not tried a zipper in a pillow - only the flap-type. I may need to do one next time although I don't make too many. Really nice job. Thank you for linking up today on TGIFF. ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. I like your cushion! I confess I'm not fond of fiddling with anything; when I *do* make a cushion cover, it's a 'flap' one. But your zipper looks neat, tidy and terrific!

  3. I would love to see a hot air balloon festival sometime - I think it sounds like so much fun! I like that you made a pillow from an orphan block and added the bias tape as a fun design element. Great job! Thanks for linking to Main Crush Monday.
