On my design wall this Monday!

One Block Wonder

Swap blocks
Yesterday I put up some one block wonder blocks on the design wall.  I had wanted to work on this project at Bryce, but ran out of time.  These blocks have been tucked away in a bag for over 6 years and I thought it was time for them to get finished. I am not happy with it yet.  It isn't working right now, and I thought I would let it cure for a few days and then rearrange the orange.  That seems to be dominate right now.

In the mean time I am working on some swap blocks that I need to get in the mail this week.  I need 12 sets of 13.  I have 3 sets cut, with one set sewn.  It is a quick block so should go smoothly.

This is my Design Wall Monday post for the week, check out what everyone else is up to at Judy's blog.

  1. I think your one-block wonder looks nice! I've taught this class about 30 times and have seen a lot of them! Maybe try taking 3 or so rows off the right side and work them into the bottom of the quilt. Sometimes putting the darkest color on the bottom works to 'ground' it.

  2. I like a lot about this quilt. I agree that you need to move the orange around a bit, but it's going to be interesting.

  3. Or instead of moving the pieces, just turn the quilt and make that right side the bottom? or the top into the bottom? Maybe just one more row along bottom and side. Looking forward to seeing what you end up with!

  5. I like your one block wonder, even with all the orange in the center.

  6. I have found the one block wonder quilts a bit difficult to get just right. I do think yours looks great.

  7. I really like your one block wonder quilt, but I think Lisa, above is right about turning the quilt.

  8. However you arrange your blocks, it will be smashing. I had to get a closer look to realize that you've used one fabric judiciously. Fantastic! Good luck!
